It's been way too long since I updated on here. I got a full time job and finding time to work on NVR-NDR has been pretty spotty. However I'm certainly grateful to have a job right now!

Despite that, there has been a lot going on. I collaborated with Kroyclub & Kool Skull to create the track "Brutal Falafel".

Currently working on remix of Hoodoo Engine, remix of Stephanie Yanez, several original NVR-NDR songs, finishing the mix for the cover of Ayumi Hamasaki in preparation for release through Ceramic Records. I've decided the name of that release will be "Special #1". Also preparing for the NVR-NDR performances with My Velcroe at the Sancho Gallery.

As some of you may know, My Velcroe and NVR-NDR have collaborated in the past. Emily did guest vocals on "Be Who You Are," the first NVR-NDR song to ever be released. I helped produce the as-of-yet undreleased My Velcroe tracks "Holy Mountain" and "Jungians."

Creator and star of the show, Emily Blong describes herself as a hunter of invisible beasts. She spends most nights alone in her home studio playing God to an imaginary place that she calls Broken Velcroe Land. Whether it be converting a fatalist sense of humor into sultry piano pop, hand-stitching wall sized-fabric kajji inspired tapestries, or writing her own "Seussian" style mythologies, everything she creates serves as a puzzle piece to an ever-expanding story about this vivid penal-inspired parallel dimension manifested through musical mantra..

A quilt show gone live action cartoon, Emily's extensive installation of plushie demon dolls and wall-sized tapestries will transport visitors into Broken Velcroe Land and the setting of a magical story about waking up in your own personal hell...and its adoreable. Through a dynamic Electra-cabaret performance, your musical tour guides, Emily Blong and her troop of imaginary friends known as My Velcroe, will unlock the story of this colorful plush purgatory and its synthetic fur inhabitants. You may be tempted to bring children, but you'd be advised to cover their ears at parts because Emily likes to keeps it real; real dark.

Opening June 24, 2011 and the three fridays thereafter, mimes, magicians, puppeteers, dancers and cameo guests will join the performance each week, including garagerock supervillans, Haunted Tiger, a plushie pizza superraver called NVR-NDR, and deathrock star Lucas Lanthier who will pop in with a few tricks. While guests enjoy the open bar, every show will kickoff in the back garden with a new puppet show for grown-ups by Dirtbike Theatre or Three Chairs theatre. If you love magic then be there on July 15th when the Magic Castle’s "W. C. Fields Bar Magician of the Year," six time winner and all star Pop Haydn, will open with his amazing Post-Modern Medicine Show.

Bjorn, AKA Ono-Sendai, has moved back to Los Angeles and will be DJ'ing live for NVR-NDR as well as working on other visual effects.

EXTREME HYPER IMPACT will be released for free download in December 2010, and in other forms shortly thereafter. It's a 20 minute live NVR-NDR album featuring live guitar by Polo and cover art by David Pursley (Starcraft, Diablo) and Oscar Guzman (Masters of Orion). Also included with the release will be several remixes by Sheldon James, Tetsujin, Personal Relations and [tlr].

I am currently booking a West Coast tour with Bubblegum Octopus and Monomate from January 6th to January 15th. If you think you can help with booking or promotion please contact me.

I've seen some english translations of the lyrics that were a little more poetic, but this is the best I could find online. All the lyrics to the theme songs of Slayers are really deep, uplifting and reflect on the nature of life in a way that touches me. Every single theme song from that show is top-notch. Some would say the show is too silly or lacks depth, but I feel it was exactly the perfect amount of silliness and heart. I love how anime is so unashamed and doesn't worry about being cheesy at all. Plus the sound design is incredibly lush, and the pop song writing techniques are excellent. I aspire to this.

100404 The Illuminist interview and upcoming NVR-NDR projects!

As you can see, the art is looking great! David brought his friend Oscar Guzman on to color the artwork. Oscar has worked on a number of classic games as well, including Masters of Orion. Should be done soon! I can't wait.

So much going on! I am working on some NVR-NDR covers of anime and J-pop tunes for us to hopefully perform at the LA 2010 Anime Expo Battle of the Bands. We will be auditioning for that soon. Check out this new demo:

NVR-NDR's trusty long distance guitar master, the Illuminist, will be interviewed live Saturday, April 10th @ 3:30 EST, 2:30 CST, on Chillin With Jeff and Kenny C. The show can be streamed online here. He will be talking about his upcoming album and working over the internet with NVR-NDR!

Meanwhile, the lovely Dj Ono-Sendai (Bjorn Littlefield-Palmer, a.k.a. KAWAIIETLY PLEASE) is preparing for the NVR-NDR show in Second Life, due for the end of May. Should be completely amazing.

I also started a new music download blog, where I am posting free and legal downloads of fantasy metal, happy hardcore, chiptune, and other music that sparks my interest. Follow with google or subscribe to the RSS feed for a steady supply of epic and magical tunes!

A bit of new concept art.

I've commissioned David Pursley, video game graphic artist and owner of Kavika Works gallery to do a art piece for NVR-NDR. David is a amazing artist, who worked for Blizzard on classic video games such as Diablo, and Starcraft, and I can't wait to see what he does with my character concepts.

Been working with Bjorn AKA Kawaiietly Please AKA Ono-Sendai on the set for the NVR-NDR show March 27th at HM157. Please help spread the word! It will be a glorious maelstrom of light and sound. We are gonna start practicing later this week, I can't wait.

We are also setting up a cyber-show in the future, floating in virtual space. Stay tuned.

Soooo I haven't posted in a bit...

Lots of stuff going on, things are moving and happening. I will have my first NVR-NDR show sometime in March at HM157. Going to be working very hard these next few months to have a set ready!!!

I decided the best way to preview what I've been working on is to make a little mix. Hopefully I will get better at making these as I keep doing it, this one I just threw together in virtualdj.

KtB has been hard at work on the pizza skirt for my [tlr] costume and its looking great! She really gave it her unique style and its looking amazing. I can't wait for it to be finished.

The stuffing for the crust is this weird crap from inside this racoon doll.

Here are some of the toppings:

Cheese, olives, mushrooms and green bell peppers. I decided on a veggie pizza, unlike the original sketch which is pepperoni.

As for omens...

I recieved a hat covered in eyeballs as a birthday present from my parents, shortly thereafter my ghost key chain figurine was replaced with an eyeball... I have always interpreted eyes to represent intelligence, entity, being, self, existence, so a ghost being replaced by a eye is a good thing in my book.

Its almost my birthday (Dec 4th) and my parents gave me this radical hat... lol...

I've actually been working on nvr-ndr since 2004. I just keep starting over as I re-invent the idea of what I want to do... I think it gets better every time though.

Just for fun, here is a song from a old version of "never-ender":

Its obviously more rock influenced. When I finish this version of nvr-ndr, I want to go back and finish the previous versions, since they have a entirely different sound and storyline. Kind of like how all the Final Fantasy games are different but the same...

A short collection of dance oriented electronic music created by Taylor Shechet during the year 2007. This set of songs were made with the intention of playing as [tlrshcht] at Dan Merino (Sex Mannequin) and Microphone Mike's dance party at Black Box Studios in San Diego. Sadly the party was canceled due to vandals breaking in to the studio the night before and stealing the PA system. The album was then slated for a small vinyl release on Monkey Bucket's label Bucketr0n. Unfortunately, due to a hard drive crash, the album was lost. It was later recovered and then released on the internet as a free download.

"It is impossible for the meaning of the universe to be understood, as this will cause it to disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre."

I paraphrased that from Douglas Adams ("Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"). It might help explain my idea for the universe of NVR-NDR. NVR-NDR begins with the end of this universe, and immediate creation of a new reality paradigm. In a infinite mega-verse of infinite possiblities, nothing is too ridiculous. Hence things like skirts that happen to be pizza as well as nearly impenetrable armor or giant cupcakes that are lazer cannons can be taken in a completely serious light. There are several reasons that I chose to create such things:

1.) To emphasize the insane nature of our own current reality.

2.) To explore the idea of absurdity as normality.

3.) To take advantage of the deeply rooted "food" meme that exists in pop culture.

4.) CUZ IT ROOLZ, DUH.

I am currently working on a cover of DJ Sammy's cover of "Heaven". Its sounding pretty good, and I feel the lyrics and vibe are extremely appropriate for the end of my storyline.

After I finish it, I am going to take a quick break from NVR-NDR to do some remixes that are piling up, for Jamuel Saxon, Dead Panda Soundsystem and Captain Ahab.

Sigh... started over 3 times on this one so far. I don't know if I'm in a funk or what. I can't decide if the two parts go together well or if the "stop" transition just makes them seem like they do. Or if there is really a difference.

I've been going through some rough emotional times in my personal life, but it has given me the inspiration to write lyrics. I now have two song's worth of lyrics! So its just a matter of recording vocals. I plan on borrowing some equipment in the near future, as I do not currently have functional recording equipment. I have been talking to a incredible guitar player, and he is recording guitar to demo_3 ASAP. I can't wait to hear it, because his skills are amazing.

Some people have been supporting me by reposting my tweets about NVR-NDR, commenting on my blog, and even writing about NVR-NDR in their own blogs. I appreciate it more than I can possibly express. The world of NVR-NDR

The world of NVR_NDR runs on different metaphysical rules than the universe we currently inhabit. In practice, it is similar to a video game, or a solipsistic dream. A soul born into NVR_NDR comes into existence full grown and with all of its faculties, although it must still progress to achieve its full potential by questing through "the game".

The topography of NVR_NDR is a shifting mass of shapes and light. Time and space are shaped more like a vortex than a curve. Objects on the edge of the senses dissolve into non-existence. Various levels/areas are inhabited by seraphim-like guardian creatures who attack souls to test their worth. Only those strong enough to defeat the guardians can proceed; if the soul is defeated it will become one of the guardian creatures.

Hieh intranetz! I am [tlr]. Since I was a small child, I have wanted to create another universe. I have tried to do so several times, and failed up to this point. But this time I am determined to succeed. To document my struggle, I have created this blog. Here I will regularly post concept art, song demos, and news related to NVR_NDR.

NVR_NDR (pronounced "Never Ender") is my attempt to portray life, from birth to beyond, as I dream it should be, in a universe of my design. The aesthetics of NVR_NDR are primarily inspired by my love of videogames, anime, and mythology. Musically, I am attempting to combine hardcore rave music, videogame soundtracks, epic fantasy metal, and J-pop. The story of [tlr], as he quests through NVR_NDR, is based on a desire for meaning in life, and the never ending quest to "BEAT THE GAME".
